Glòria Martí. Cuando la Tierra Tiembla, 2006

In the words of Glòria Martí, “this is a story of many people who share a common place: the non-place. This is the space that has arisen between borders, that exists between being legal and illegal and between different economic realities. This story is repeated any place on the planet where a migrant, a refugee or an exile can be found. And although each one has its own unique characteristics, it occurs in New York above all. All of the protagonists are Mexican immigrants - called ‘wetbacks, ‘wire jumpers’ and ‘illegals’ -who share a common experience.”

Martí has been working with video since 1993. Her works include Los invisibles (1999), Fragmentos (2004) and Meu Nome é Ronaldo (2007). Her videos have been shown in spaces such as the Knitting Factory, Anthology Film Archives and the Artists Space. She currently resides in Barcelona and works in the video department of the Hangar foundation.
