Guernica. Mass Media and Collective Imaginary
The last issue of Archivos de la Filmoteca, a periodical published by the Generalitat Valenciana, is dedicated to the examination of the historical imaginary of the bombing of the town of Guernica, the role of Picasso's mural in the representation of the historical event without images, and the later use of the painting in French pedagogical programs since the Post-war.
This presentation engages some of these issues, by examining the Guernica in the light of visual culture studies and their relationship with film and photography as mass communication media.

Vicente J. Benet. Lecturer in Audiovisual Communication at Universitat Jaume I in Castellón y chief editor of Archivos de la Filmoteca.
