Avid Eyes
Masterworks from American Avant-garde Experimental Film (1920–1970)
Avid Eyes is an anthology of experimental American cinema curated by researcher Bruce Posner, who also oversaw the landmark film series Unseen Cinema, held in the Museo Reina Sofía in 2006. Avid Eyes features a selection of 37 recently remastered films that introduce the multiple pathways traced by American avant-garde cinema between 1920 and 1970.

Presentation of Tres Aguas (Three Waters)
Cristina Iglesias in conversation with James Lingwood and Manuel Borja-Villel
The presentation of Cristina Iglesias’ book and project could be seen as an epilogue to the exhibition Metonymy, a 2013 retrospective on the artist held in the Museo. Tres Aguas (Three Waters) is a sculptural intervention in the city of Toledo that joins nature, history and landscape.

Lav Diaz. The Evolution of a Filipino Film-maker
In collaboration with FILMADRID, a new space devoted to contemporary auteur cinema, the Museo Reina Sofía and Filmoteca Española (the Spanish Film Institute) welcome the retrospective Lav Diaz. The Evolution of a Filipino Film-maker, centred upon a contemporary director whose experiments with duration best represent the popular and tragic history of a community.

The Museo will once again be taking part in the celebration of International Museum Day (IMD), held on 18 May, contributing, on 16, 17 and 18 May, with dance activities, workshops and a programme of guided tours that aim to offer plural viewpoints of its Collection and temporary exhibitions like the remarkable White Fire. This seminar is the culmination of the exhibition The Return of the Snake. Mathias Goeritz and the Invention of Emotional Architecture and looks to generate a debate centred on the artist Mathias Goertiz as a unique case study with which to understand the phenomena of the translation, reinterpretation and survival of modernity in a new time in history, straight after the war.

Degenerated Political Art. Ethical Protocol
Can strategies of capital be replicated to build horizontal social dynamics? As part of an action in the Really Useful Knowledge exhibition, artists Núria Güell and Levi Orta donate bank accounts in tax havens to a group of activists, who will use this route to attack the system that produces it. The project culminates in this seminar, which is organised by both artists.

Lecture held by Francisco Reyes Palma
This lecture offers a journey through the work of Mathias Goeritz as it introduces the expansive retrospective exhibition the Museo is devoting to the artist. The creator of both syncretic and original work, after 1940 Goeritz would reformulate European geometric abstraction through ancestral pre-Hispanic tradition and a new sense of the public sphere.
