The work Un mundo (A World) by Valladolid artist Ángeles Santos was created in 1929 and made a huge impression on the intellectual circles at the time. The painting, which straddles Surrealist premises and the poetics of Magic Realism, became part of the holdings in the Museo Reina Sofía Collection in 1992, the year in which the need to restore it became apparent.
Over the course of 2019, this large-scale oil painting has been completely restored. In this video, conservators and restorers specialised in the work discuss the restoration process and how its subsequent hanging in the rooms of the Museo have seen it become one of the pivotal works in Collection 2.
