This catalogue brings together the exhibition encompassing the period of forging photographic modernity from the specific point of view of the medium’s presence in the public sphere, particularly through books and periodicals, the facsimile publication of which is one of the contributions to this volume. It is completed with an in-depth essay written by Horacio Fernández, the show’s curator, and a complete dictionary of artists, figures, institutions, publications, collectives and movements involved in the development of public photography in the period spanning from 1919 to 1939.
