Georges Vantongerloo

A Longing for Infinity

This catalogue is published in conjunction with Georges Vantongerloo’s first solo exhibition in Spain. It shows both the underpinnings of the artist’s work, in which the reconceptualisation of pictorial and sculptural space shaped the artistic trends of abstract art at the beginning of the twentieth century, and his discernible development after the Second World War. Along with essays (on aspects such as the constitutive elements forming the basis of his oeuvre, his work with transparency and the "incognoscible" nature of his pieces) the publication features the reproduction of a selection of Vantongerloo’s texts sketching his own cosmology.
