Forsaking Writing

Ignacio Gómez de Liaño. Forsaking Writing

Ignacio Gómez de Liaño (Madrid, 1946) is a writer, poet and philosopher and a key figure in gaining an understanding of the experimental poetry scene in Spain. His work focused on theoretical formulation, by way of manifestos, and event and collective exhibition organisation in relation to experimental poetry, granting exposure to numerous overseas artists in Spain.

The publication Ignacio Gómez de Liaño. Forsaking Writing presents a significant part of the donation of his personal archive to the Museo, and includes documents stretching from the mid-1960s to the late 1970s. It also includes his core manifestos and unpublished writings, and poetic materials documenting his role as a promotor of artists, as a pivotal agent in the cultural activity of the major centres of artistic production from the aforementioned decades, and as an influential figure in the development of public and action poetry in Spain.
